The Fantastic Four is an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and the first animated series based on Marvel's comic book series Fantastic Four. The program, featuring character designs by Alex Toth, aired on ABC from 1967 to 1970. It lasted for 20 episodes, with repeat episodes airing on ABC until the network cancelled the program. It was also rerun as part of the continuing series Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure.

The Fantastic Four gained their super powers after a experimental rocket ship designed by Reed Richards and piloted by Reed's friend, Ben Grimm, was hit by a storm of cosmic rays on its test flight in space. When it crash landed back on earth, the four discovered that they each had gained super powers. Reed could stretch, twist and re-shape his body to in-human proportions, Ben was transformed into a monstrous humanoid with orange, rock-covered skin with incredible strength and durability. Sue was able to turn herself invisible and create forcefeilds. Johnny could cover himself with flames as well as fly. They decide to call themselves the Fantastic Four and use their abilities to protect mankind.
